Mark Stoddard - Bio
Mark is an award-winning theater director, actor, playwright, arts educator, (and jingle singer!) with a MA in Educational Theater from NYU. He has coached/directed thousands of performers from young beginners to college theater scholarship winners to professional actor/singers and Broadway veterans.
He has directed over 300 musicals, plays and original works, including: ‘Carousel’ and ‘Ragtime’ (AZ Musicfest), ‘Hunchback of Notre Dame’, ‘Addams Family’ and ‘Peter and the StarCatcher’ (Valley Youth Theatre), ‘Matilda’ (Xavier/Brophy), ‘Into the Woods’, ‘Urinetown’, ‘The Crucible’ and ‘Music Man’ (PVCC), ‘Beauty and the Beast, ‘Little Mermaid’, Mary Poppins’ and ‘Celebration of Christmas’ (Dream City Arts), ‘The Telephone’ (AZ Opera).
Mark’s creative work has been seen in 49 US states and numerous foreign countries – in theaters, arenas, theme parks, DOD military bases, Veterans hospitals, classrooms, churches, and unique outdoor environmental spaces. In Arizona, over 2 million patrons have filled auditoriums to see his work as a professional theatermaker (director, actor, playwright, producer) at many of the major arts organizations including The Phoenix Theater Company, Arizona Opera, Arizona Musicfest, Valley Youth Theatre, Musical Theater Alliance of AZ, Phoenix Symphony, Theaterworks, Maricopa Community Colleges, Xavier College Prep, Phoenix Boys Choir, Dream City Arts, and numerous schools, community theaters and churches.
He performs regularly in professional valley theater productions and some of his favorite roles include: Scar in Lion King (MTAA), Adam in Children of Eden & Pharaoh in Joseph…Dreamcoat (Phoenix Theater Company); Fredrik in A Little Night Music (Arizona Opera), Capt Von Trapp in Sound of Music (Desert Stages), George Bailey in It's A Wonderful Life (MVP Theater), Quartet / featured Salesman in The Music Man (Phoenix Symphony). In winter of 2025, Mark will play Jean Shepherd on the national tour of A Christmas Story: the musical (Big League Productions).
